Argus HD | Corporate AV & Live Event Production – New York

Video Production // New York

Video Production New York

Brand films, customer stories, product videos and executive interviews, produced end to end by a senior led team out of Manhattan. Plus the live event and broadcast production that most video companies quietly subcontract.

Video Production in New York, From the Brief Through to the Final Cut

Most video projects do not go wrong in the edit. They go wrong at the start, when nobody agreed what the video is for, who it is talking to, or where it will actually live.

Argus HD starts there. We pin down the audience and the action before a camera is booked, then produce, shoot and cut the thing that serves it. Crew, kit, permits, direction and post all sit under one scope and one producer.

We work from 214 W. 29th St. in Manhattan and shoot across the five boroughs and the wider metro. When the stakes are high, we are the team behind the team.

The Video We Produce in New York

Filmed content and live production under one roof. Everything below sits inside one scope, written in plain language after a discovery call.

Brand Films and Company Overviews

The film your website, your sales team and your recruiters all end up using. One clear story rather than a list of everything the company does.

Customer Stories and Case Study Videos

Real customers explaining the problem you solved in their own words, cut to convert on a landing page and inside a sales deck.

Product and Demo Videos

Screen capture, in camera demos and motion graphics that show how the thing actually works, without a voice reading out the feature list.

Executive and Thought Leadership Interviews

Composed sit down interviews with founders and leadership, shot for a library of short clips rather than one long film nobody finishes.

Recruiting and Employer Brand Video

Employees talking honestly about the work. This is the footage that makes a careers page believable instead of generic.

Event Recap and Sizzle Reels

Coverage shot with the edit already in mind, so the recap goes out while people still remember being there.

Corporate Event A/V Production

Stage, audio, lighting, projection and show calling for keynotes and multi room conferences across New York.

Livestream and Broadcast Production

Broadcast quality streaming with redundant contribution paths and multi platform delivery.

Webcast and Virtual Event Production

Studio webcasts and virtual events with registration, engagement and a captioned replay.

Also producing hybrid events and board meetings and investor days across New York.

The Brief Is the Whole Job

Every expensive video problem we have been called in to fix started life as a vague brief. Four questions settle almost all of it, and they cost nothing to answer.

Who Is It For, Singular

A video aimed at customers, investors, recruits and the board at once reaches none of them. Pick one audience. If you genuinely need four, you need four videos, and they will be shorter and cheaper than one film trying to do everything.

What Should They Do Next

Book a demo, apply for a role, approve a budget, understand a product. The action decides the length, the tone and the last ten seconds. Without it you get a film people enjoy and then forget.

Where Will It Live

A homepage hero, a LinkedIn feed, a sales email, a conference loop, a careers page. This decides aspect ratio, runtime, whether it works with the sound off and whether captions are burned in. Decide it before the shoot, not after the edit.

How Will You Know It Worked

Views are not a result. Pick the number that actually matters, whether that is demo requests, applications or completion rate, and we will build the cut to move it.

We run this in the first call and write the answers into the scope. It is the cheapest hour in the entire project and it is the one most vendors skip.

Filming in New York: What Needs a Permit and What Does Not

Around half the shoots we are asked about need no permit at all. The other half need one plus insurance filed in advance. Knowing which one you are is worth real money and several days of schedule.

No permit needed when

A permit is required when

Where a permit is needed, the city currently charges a fee covering a consecutive fourteen day period, and requires commercial general liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence with the City of New York named as additional insured. The certificate has to reach the city before the application goes in, not alongside it.

Fees and requirements change, so we confirm the current position with the city on every project rather than working from memory. Argus HD carries the coverage and files the paperwork. You will know during scoping whether your shoot needs a permit and exactly what it adds to the schedule.

Where the Budget Actually Goes

Most people picture the shoot day when they picture the cost. The shoot day is usually the smallest of the three.

Preproduction

The brief, the script or question set, casting and location scouting, permits and insurance, the shot list and the schedule. Cheap to do properly and ruinously expensive to skip, because every hour saved here costs several on the day.

Production

Crew, kit, locations and the shoot itself. The most visible line on any quote and the one people negotiate hardest, even though it is usually the shortest part of the calendar.

Post Production

Editing, color, sound mix, graphics, captions and the versions. This is where most of the calendar sits and where most briefs quietly expand. Agree the number of cuts and revision rounds before anyone starts.

We quote all three separately in plain language, so you can see exactly what you are buying and where to trim if the number needs to move.

How Long It Actually Takes

These are realistic windows for a straightforward corporate project in New York. Tell us your date and we will be honest about whether it fits.

A simple single day project

A larger multi day project

The two things that stretch a timeline most are stakeholder approvals and getting people on camera. Neither is a production problem, which is exactly why we ask about both in the first call.

Why New York Teams Choose Argus HD for Video Production

The most expensive production mistake you can make is hiring the wrong video production team in New York. We built Argus HD to be the right one.

We do not drop off gear. The same senior team that scoped your project is on set and in the edit, so the person who understood the brief is the person cutting the film.

You get one point of contact, a scope written in plain language, and problems solved before you see them.

Our Video Production Process

Four stages, one senior team, no handoffs between them. The person who wrote the plan is the person on set.

01

Brief and Scope

A discovery call where we settle the audience, the action, the destination and the measure, then put a fixed line item scope in writing.

02

Preproduction

Script or question set, casting, locations, permits, insurance, shot list and schedule. Everything that makes the shoot day boring in the best possible way.

03

Production

A senior crew on set working to the shot list, with a producer watching for the moments the edit is actually going to need.

04

Post and Delivery

Selects, first cut, color, sound and graphics, then the versions and cutdowns your team will publish. Two revision rounds included.

What You Get Back

Scopes get vague when a vendor wants room to add charges later. Ours spell out the deliverables before anything is shot.

Our Fun Fact

Argus HD has been producing live broadcasts since streaming was still figuring itself out. Our founder worked the crew on one of YouTube’s very first live events back in 2008, the Katy Perry show, and later helped bring Facebook’s early F8 developer conferences to a live audience online.

Almost twenty years of putting pictures in front of an audience is a useful thing to have behind a camera on your shoot day.

What Video Production Costs in New York

Pricing depends on scope, crew size, the number of shoot days and how much post production the project needs. A single day interview shoot with one finished cut sits at the light end. A multi day brand film with locations, casting, motion graphics and a set of versions sits at the other.

We scope it on a discovery call and put it in writing in plain language, so the number you approve is the number you pay.

What moves the number

Video Production New York FAQs

Pricing depends on scope, crew size, the number of shoot days and post production. A single day interview shoot with one finished cut costs far less than a multi day brand film with locations, casting and motion graphics. We scope it on a discovery call and put the number in writing before you commit.

It depends entirely on the kit. A handheld camera or a camera on a tripod, with no exclusive use of city property and no production vehicles parked on the street, does not need a permit. Anything beyond that does, and so does any request for parking, exclusive use, stunts, prop weapons or NYPD assistance. We confirm which side your shoot falls on during scoping.

For a city permit you need commercial general liability of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence with the City of New York named as additional insured, and the certificate has to reach the city before the application goes in. Requirements change, so we confirm them each time. We carry the coverage and handle the filing.

A straightforward single day project usually runs four to six weeks end to end. A larger multi day project runs eight to twelve. The two things that stretch a timeline most are stakeholder approvals and getting people on camera, so we ask about both in the first call.

Yes, or the question set if the piece is interview led. We also work happily from a script your team has written, and we will say honestly if it is going to be difficult to shoot before anyone books a crew.

Yes, and most corporate projects are shot on location. We scout the room first so the space we choose holds up on camera and stays quiet enough to record clean audio in.

That is agreed in the scope rather than assumed. Most projects take a master cut plus social cutdowns in vertical and square with captions. More versions are easy to add before the edit starts and expensive to add once it is finished.

Yes. Titles, lower thirds, data visualization and explanatory motion all sit inside the same scope. Full character animation is a different discipline, and we will tell you plainly if that is what your idea actually needs.

Yes, and that is unusual. Most video production companies subcontract live event work. We run corporate A/V, livestream, hybrid and webcast production with our own team, so one company can cover both halves of your year.

Two to four weeks for a straightforward shoot. Longer if the project needs permits, casting or several stakeholders to align on a script. Tell us the date and we will tell you honestly what is possible.

Got a video that has to work, not just look good?

Start with a discovery call. We will settle the brief in twenty minutes, tell you whether your shoot needs a permit, and put a scope in writing you can take straight to your budget holder.
